Default let the galaxy burn

hi my names yousef and mostly got involved with wh40k through there fiction in the white dwarf magazines and really loved short stories they released and ever since been a huge fan of novels released from the black library. i tried the table top game but never really got into them so i was wondering what books that people have read around that people enjoyed. my personal recommendations are:
The last chancers: for good penal imperial legion story and the darker side of the tau race.
Eisenhorn: epic inquisitor story that just left me wanting more.
let the galaxy burn: small collection of short stories that are were great especially the short story of the tank versus the ork horde.(huge ork fan)
but yeah im wondering what other books that people have read here

Greetings! Sorry for the delay in giving a response, but of late I have not checked this forum more than once a week. As more folk show up I am certain more and more people will start posting.

In terms of 40K books, I am very fond of the Liber Chaotica Complete. It is a book that focuses on the powers of Chaos (the gods, daemons, etc.) and is a mixed book that covers topics suitable for both Warhammer Fantasy as well as 40K. It is an excellent buy if you can find a copy, loaded with loads of wonderful text, art and more.

Being a longtime roleplayer, I am also very fond of the Dark Heresy RPG books for 40K. Naturally I am also looking forward to the Rogue Trader RPG books as well. The 40K RPG was originally being handled by Black Industries, but Fantasy Flight Games is at the helm now and doing a fine job I think.

On average I have read more Warhammer fantasy books & novels and the like when compared to 40k. Very fond of the old Titan comic storyline as well as Daemonfuge. Loads of good 40k novels, too many to list in brief certainly.

If you havent read them, then The Horus Heresy is a must read series. It takes place in M31 which is about 9-10,000 years before the current game settings. It details the rise and fall of the empire of man and the forming of the Chaos Space Marines. While some of the authors were not on the level of others, overall, the series was captivating. I have read the series 3 times now...

Other then that there is the Soul Drinkers series, Ultramarines, Blood Angels, and Gaunt's Ghost series, just to name a few. All great series for a 40k enthusiast. Theres several other individual books and some other series as well. You can check out the link below for a pretty complete list of available books.

I agree with Warp, the Horus Heresy is a MUST READ. Some of it is a little hard to get used to, seeings how it's a while in the past, but still I love it. Another series to read is the Soul Drinkers series. Full of betrayal, death, destruction, and corruption; it is one of the best series i have ever came accross. Space Wolves is another fairly long series, 2 omnibuses or 6 books . . . and counting! There are many more series out there but i'm too poor to buy them.
