Greetings all.
As speculation is pretty much all we have at the moment, I figured a good first post may as well be on the topic of 'race' speculation. My first speculative efforts in this field are of a single variety, derived from the assumption that all the potential offerings must be capable of combat & fighting (no non-combatants) as well as being choices of potential equivalent merit and capabilities. Imperium From the Imperium there are several potential options that one may draw upon naturally. Everything from the Adeptus Astartes to Assassins of the various temples. The trick with some potential options, is that not all servants of the Emperor are created equally. If something like a Space marine were to be availiable, the other options would have to be of equivalent (though differing) quality. Adeptus Astartes: I think it is reasonable to expect that there will be playable Space Marines. They are such an iconic fixture of the setting, that having them as unplayable would be kind of shocking in my opinion. Officio Assassinorum: While not superhuman in the same way as the Space Marines, I think some of the Assassin types would be excellent additions as playable options. Members of the Culexus Temple would be ideal (as an example) for dealing with daemons & psykers. Adeptus Mechanicus: I think it is highly possible that a Tech Priest may be a potential option. A combat-oriented utility-focused career could make for an excellent addition for folk to play. Ecclesiarchy/Inquisition: I do think it possible that some options may be availiable that are derived from these two sources. An Imperial Inquisitor, Sisters of battle or perhaps even things like the Grey Knights (in an extreme situation) could potentially be playable options. Perhaps even more normal Space Marines could 'specialize' as one of the Death Watch. In theory the Adepta Sororitas may make an excellent option as well. Psykers/Librarians: Franky I am of the opinion that some form of sanctioned playable psykers need to exist. Naturally these could take many potential forms, being a member of the Inquisition to a Space Marine who has shown the gift and been inducted into their chapters Librarium. Imperial Guard: While I think it fair to expect to see the Imperial Guard as NPCs at the very least, if vehicles are to have any bearing as things players may control in-game, then I think the chance of playable Imperial Guard increases as well. I think the only real possibilities would be Elite units, things like sanctioned psykers, Stormtroopers (perhaps Ogryn), or controllers of vehicles of some sort. A big unknown here I think. |

I wouldn't write off the Guard entirely. They may go with something more 'Dark Heresy'-ish.

I think I will make a post in a separate section with my thoughts/speculation along these lines. |

Seeings how we don't know what kind of options we will have considering we almost 0 things about it, it's kind of bad to speculate too much on anything. If we get our heads stuck on a single thing happening and it doesn't it will be a huge uppset. Being said I can't seem to keep my mind off of the possiblities that we have here, especially with my favorite race in the 40k universe. Mankind.
Space Marines As far as these guys go there are many flexible classes that can be made. Your chapter that you are a part of would effect your skills that you have and the type of combat you will be geared to. If you want to know what they are just look at a codex; Salamanders would be more close range, shooting flames everywhere ... ect. 1. Scouts: More of a stealth class, either focusing on ranged or melee or both. They can also have some heavy weapons to help with some of the heavier targets during an ambush. ![]() 2. Assault Marines: Basic melee class, jump pack is optional. When you get to a certain point you can get into Assault Terminator armor or even a Dreadnaught, big bad walker killing machine conversion would be permanent so choose wisely. ![]() 3. Tactical Marines: Basic ranged class. This class would also include Devestators for anyone that wants to wield "The Big Guns" and the Terminator armor will be available at higher levels. I guess you could become a dreadnaught even though you would be more ranged oriented. Sorry for any mispellings. ![]() 4. Officers: Sergeants, Commanders, Librarians, Chaplains, Apothecarys, Techmarines, and anything else you can think of would be here. They would be very customizable, versitile, and each path you take is completely different. For instance, Sergeants and Commanders have melee oriented and have area effect buffs on themselves that increase everyones health within a certain distance or something like that. You get the point ... hopefully In one last note they would have more soldiers under their command, if commanding NPCs is going to be put in.Imperial Guard Sorry for the lack of description but it has mostly been explained 1. Storm Trooper / Veteran: Ranged 2. Ogryn: Melee 3. Officer: Same as officer for Space Marines. Includes Commissar, Sanctioned Psyker, and Priest. 4.Techpriest Enginseer: This is the only other one I could think of. They would be more like the vehicle drivers / mechanics. They would have cybernetics that will increase all of their stats by a bunch, also ups your defence of your frail body and possibly adds more weapons slots if you have arms coming out of your back or something. Ordo Malleus My personal favorite but the hardest pick classes for. 1. Grey Knights / Terminators: Melee 2. Grey Knights Marine: Ranged 3. Inquisitor: Has abilities / spells but also a little armor and melee weapons. Also some interesting gadgets and such. 4. Death Cult Assassin: Stealth Sisters of Battle 1. Sisters Repentia: Melee 2. Battle Sister / Seraphim: Ranged 3. Assassin: You can choose which temple you want to be a part of. 4. Inquisitor : Same as Grey Knights. Finally .... I'm done ... my hands hurt ... *falls down* *get back up, out of breath* Sorry for not giving more info ... I'm going to take a nap ... |

I think that the imperial guard should be more of a start off for imperial forces, as space marines simple are too powerful. I still think that they should be playable, but that they have to be unlocked first.
Another way to do it, was to make it possible for IG to be commanders, so that they'll at least command a squad, as they progress in levels they should then be able to upgrade their squaqd either in talent or in numbers. |
